In a recent Case Report Insights, Consultant360’s newest content offering featuring in-depth interviews that take you inside the diagnosis with clinicians who recently published a Consultant case report, study author Felicia Cooper MD discussed what she learned about her uncommon case and what other clinicians could take away from her winding path to the correct diagnosis: “It’s always important to cast a wide net and keep your thinking broad when thinking of a diagnosis and always realizing that the diagnosis can change at any point as well.”
I thought about this quote, and its message about maintaining flexibility and being open to change, while reflecting on one of Consultant360’s major accomplishments in 2023–implementing Editorial Manager as our new content management system.
Our journal’s transition to a completely new editorial process could have potentially delayed our authors’ editorial workflow. A journal changes systems and suddenly submissions are left unseen. Revisions are re-routed to the wrong researcher. Turnaround time skyrockets.
While our editorial team here worked hard to avoid major hiccups like the ones above, we couldn’t do it alone. Our peer reviewers, the lifeblood of any credible peer-reviewed journal, stayed flexible, were receptive to change, and remained enthusiastic partners.
I am thankful to all our peer reviewers for their time, expertise, and willingness to learn a new system with us this year.
