Effects of e-Cigarettes Detailed in Large National Academies Report
The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine have published a report on more than 800 peer-reviewed scientific studies investigating the health consequences associated with e-cigarette use.
The report was published in light of the current need for information regarding the health effects associated with e-cigarettes as their popularity continues to rise.

The studies featured in the report were identified and evaluated by the Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) Committee, which was established in December 2016 under the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
The topics addressed by the new report include:
- The short- and long-term health risks associated with e-cigarette use.
- Devices and use patterns that are important determinants of risk.
- Whether e-cigarettes are an “initiation pathway” to traditional cigarette smoking among youth.
